Empowering Researchers through Short-Term Scientific Missions

In her recent article, Vassiliki Michopoulou, our Science Communication Manager, highlights the value of Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) for the professional growth of young researchers. The article features insights from four young researchers, including Effie Karyda, who share their life-changing experiences of participating in these international laboratory missions.

Effie Karyda, a junior PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Georgios Skretas, has recently returned from a three-month Short-Term Scientific Mission at the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain and Disease Research in Belgium. During her time there, she collaborated with the Twin4Promis advanced partner, Switch Laboratory, working under the guidance of two leading experts in the field of protein misfolding and aggregation, Dr. Joost Schymkowitz and Dr. Frederic Rousseau. For more information about Effie’s STSM please read here.

Twin4Promis actively supports young researchers like Effie by providing them with opportunities to engage in international scientific missions. Through this initiative, researchers are able to collaborate with experts in state-of-the-art laboratories, gaining hands-on experience with the latest scientific techniques and methodologies.
